TOS Restrictor Gates

A restrictor gate limits how the joystick can move. Use 4-way mode for games like Pac-Man, where accidental diagonals can interfere with turns. Use 8-way mode for games that use diagonal inputs, such as Street Fighter II.

Choose the Sanwa JLF All-in-One Kit for a first installation that needs a controller board. Choose a matching Sanwa JLF or GRS Flight Stick extension to use with a TOS controller board, available separately. Check the joystick model, mounting clearance, and included parts before ordering.

1. Replace the existing gate with the matching TOS gate and mount the 2-in-1 button.
2. Connect the gate and button to the TOS controller board according to the kit instructions. Use the button to select 4-way or 8-way mode.
3. To switch automatically when a game starts, connect the controller to your system and configure the software or integration for your arcade front end. Check the kit’s software instructions for your platform.
