Compatibility — which part fits my cabinet?

Which spinner fits the Arcade1Up Tron cabinet?

The GRS Push & Pull Spinner Ultra (TS-DOT-ULTRA). It’s plug-and-play USB, but the Tron cabinet needs a 3D-printed mount — the STL files are on the product page (a local print service can make one if you don’t have a printer). The decal seen in community builds is third-party.

Which GRS spinner fits a standard 28 mm button hole?

The GRS USB Button Hole Spinner Ultra mounts in a standard 28 mm button hole. The GRS Push & Pull Spinner Ultra also fits a 28 mm hole and works with Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi and macOS.

Which GRS trackball fits the Arcade1Up Legacy Tempest?

Both the GRS RGB Arcade Trackball (12 lighting effects) and the GRS LED Arcade Trackball (7 colors) are drop-in replacements for the Legacy Tempest — choose on lighting preference and price.

Is there a GRS trackball that fits the Arcade1Up Golden Tee 3D?

Not as a direct drop-in — that cabinet uses non-standard mounting dimensions. For a full PC/emulation mod the GRS RGB Arcade Trackball works, but it requires modifying or replacing the control panel; some builders use 3D-printed mounting plates or aftermarket panels.

Is the GRS Tron Arcade Flight Stick compatible with the AtGames Legends Ultimate?

Yes — it works with ALU v1.1 and above.

Does the GRS 12-in-1 Interface Board work in Arcade1Up Legacy cabinets?

No. It fits the original 2018 Atari 12-in-1 cabinets only. Legacy editions use different hardware, and there is currently no compatible GRS spinner interface for Legacy-series cabinets.

Does the Spinner Steering Wheel replace the Arcade1Up OutRun wheel?

No. It’s an 8-inch wheel that mounts on standard GRS spinner shafts (Spinner V2 and Button Hole Spinner) — it cannot replace the OutRun cabinet’s wheel. Email us if you need exact mounting dimensions for your build.

Which joystick works with the TOS 4-to-8-way switchable restrictor?

The GRS flight stick or a Sanwa JLF. Switching is driven by the separate TOS restrictor controller board; a Sanwa JLF can also replace the DIY kit’s stock joystick by splicing its direction wires to the encoder.

Setup & firmware

Which GRS Ultra Spinner firmware should I install — 2.63 or 2.64?

Install v2.64 (the 2.63 link in the earlier recall email is outdated). Update with the GRS Ultra Spinner Configuration Tool v1.4 on a Windows PC.

Do I need to update firmware after installing the Ultra/PCB spinner upgrade kit?

Yes. The kit ships with DOT Spinner firmware, so flash the BSP Ultra firmware after installing, following the tutorial that comes with the kit. Seeing “TS-BSP-02” in the config tool is expected.

My Push & Pull Spinner scrolls the MAME menu by itself — how do I stop the drift?

Recalibrate the push/pull feature in the configuration tool, test the spinner on a PC to confirm the fix, and update to the latest firmware — newer versions improve stability. Worn spring tension can also cause sync loss.

My spinner stopped working in RetroArch after a reboot — why?

The mapping most likely wasn’t saved. Spinners appear as a mouse axis and are mapped per game (Quick Menu → Controls); you must then turn on “Save Configuration on Quit” (Settings → Configuration) or save a game remap. Skipping that save step is the single most common cause.

The spinner feels slow in MAME with the 12-in-1 Interface Board — what do I change?

The board’s default DIP setting adds about 8 ms of latency, needed for stock Arcade1Up PCBs. On a PC/MAME build, set DIP switch 1 ON and DIP switch 2 ON to disable the delay — responsiveness improves immediately. Keep the defaults if the board is driving a stock Arcade1Up PCB.

Can the TOS restrictor switch between 4-way and 8-way automatically per game?

Yes. A community auto-switching script lives on the LaunchBox forum, and there are integrations for CoinOPS, RetroPie, Batocera, R-Cade and LaunchBox on Windows. The tos428config software and SDK can also be scripted.

What are the three USB ports on the GRS Encoder Hub for?

They’re an integrated USB hub — connect trackballs, spinners or extra controllers, and they funnel through the hub’s single connection to your PC.

Does the GRS Universal Encoder Hub support illuminated buttons?

Yes — it has external power support for illuminated buttons. LED lighting (like the Tron stick’s) needs a 5V power connection.

Where do I find manuals, wiring diagrams and configuration software?

Every GRS controller is plug-and-play USB — no download is needed for basic use. For tuning: the Super Joystick/IKARI uses TS-RJConfigurator (Windows 10/11), Ultra spinners use the Ultra Spinner Configuration Tool v1.4, and the TOS restrictor uses tos428config. Manuals and firmware are on each product page, and the Help Center lists everything in one place.

iiRcade & Viper SBC

Can the GRS Viper SBC directly replace a dead iiRcade mainboard?

Not on its own — the Viper doesn’t expose the same GPIO as the iiRcade board. You need the GRS KVM kit, which integrates the Viper as the cabinet’s primary system.

Can I still buy the iiRcade KVM system?

iiRcade upgrade kits run on a threshold pre-order system — orders are collected until a production target is reached. If the current window is closed, join the reservation list to be counted toward the next run.

Shipping & orders

Do you ship internationally, and who pays customs?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated at checkout by destination; customs duties and import taxes are the buyer’s responsibility and vary by country.

How long until my order arrives?

Standard processing takes around 5 days before shipment; US delivery typically takes another 2–5 days depending on location. If processing runs past that, contact us and we’ll escalate it.

I bought a GRS product on Amazon — who handles shipping questions?

Amazon customer service. GRS listings on Amazon are fulfilled by Amazon (FBA), so Thunderstick doesn’t handle those shipments directly — but for product and technical help we’re still happy to assist.

Returns & warranty

What’s the return policy?

You have 30 days from delivery to request a return. Email sales@thunderjoystick.com first with your order number, the reason and a photo — don’t ship anything until the return is confirmed (often we can fix setup or compatibility issues so no return is needed). Return shipping is at your cost via a trackable method, and you must send us the tracking number so the warehouse expects the package. Refunds go to the original payment method after check-in, typically within 2–3 weeks of delivery. Amazon purchases use Amazon’s own return process.

When do I get my refund after mailing a return?

Once the package arrives at the warehouse and is checked in, the refund is processed and support confirms it. Sharing your return tracking number speeds this up.

Is there an extended warranty?

Yes — the 1 Year Extended Warranty covers all Thunderstick Studios products for an extra year.

Can Thunderstick provide game ROM files?

No — to comply with copyright law we can’t share or host copyrighted ROMs. We’re glad to help with controller configuration and MAME setup once you have a legal ROM set.
